Mini Nationals 09

So we are back from our VERY long trip to Mini Nationals in Cleveland, TN. We left on Friday about 5:30am and returned last night at about 8pm. It is to only take 12 hours by bus, but unfortunately we hit really bad ice and a tractor trailor accident about 33 miles from Bristol, so we sat on the bus for 6 hours at a stand still. It was a very long trip home (18hours) but we made it safely and that is what is most important. I had lots of sleep to catch up on so I did that at home today. Back to work tomorrow. As for the weekend it was a very good weekend, we had 7 winners so that is great! Makayla did the best she has ever done this year so far. Enjoy our pictures from the trip.
This is Anna and Makayla on Friday before we pulled out from the studio. Anna and Makayla enjoying a movie together.

Together as friends!
When they got bored, they would look out the window watching for tractor-trailers to honk at them. Unfortunately they didn't understand that the drivers couldn't really see them, but hey it kept them entertained for at least a little while.

Awards night after a long competition day.
Here is my little winner. She placed 4th in her twirling, 2nd in her fancy strut, 1st in basic marching, and runner-up to Mini National Starlet age 4 to 6. She competed against 6 girls and did very well. Especially because she is the youngest!

Her "biggest" trophy yet!

Disappointed....but Determined!

Well as some of you may know or heard, the Donegal School District community voted against the $114 million referendum last evening which would have provided our children with new schools, which are long overdue. The amount of money being asked for from the tax payers dollars was just to much. I am very disappointed that the outcome couldn't have been a better one but hope that we can recover from this and in 5 months the school board can come back with a plan that will suite all the needs of the community. I just hope the cost to build doesn't increase in that time, or the amount of children in our schools doesn't increase any further (as it has been) or they could have a real problem on their hands! It is a real shame for the kids in this district and right now I would say I am not proud to be a part of this community. I will keep an open mind about the upcoming months, but its hard when you have small children who will ultimately be affected by this decision in the end!

With enough said, there has not been much going on in our house hold this past week. Makayla and I are getting ready to head to Tennessee on Friday am with Paula's for her upcoming Mini Nationals. She is VERY excited about the bus ride there, can't say I am though:) I will be posting her results and pictures as soon as I get back. Good luck Makayla and the girls at PSOB!!!
Matthew started indoor soccer this week. He has his first game on Friday evening. He really likes it so far, easier to kick, no off sides, what more could he ask for! Mason had his first wrestling practice last night, and LOVED IT! He came right home and showed me his drop step and how to hold the wrists. He is more and more like his dad everyday!
Other than that the Ober's are doing well. I will try to get some new pics posted soon!! Wish you all a good rest of the week!

Mason Hunting

Take a close look and you will see Mason sitting in the tree!!!!! This was at Aunt Cathy's on New Year's Day after our dinner. He wanted to play outside and we all just happened to look out the window to see Mason sitting in the tree with his bow and shooting from the tree into the grass. It was hysterical. Boy what am I going to do with him when he is old enough to hunt. I will definitely have a hard time keeping him out of the woods!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all!! Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season, just as much as we did. We had a great time New Year's eve. We started our festivities at the Leety's house with friends, and then headed to Matt and Ani's to end the night. (sorry I have no pictures as I forgot my camera). I felt great the next day because I was DD, but Matt on the other hand felt horrible. Yes, some was the night before affects, but he was also sick with a horrible cold. We headed to Aunt Cathy's and had a nice New Year's dinner and then spent the rest of the day watching PSU and playing games.
Here is Mason on New Year's Day right before we were ready to leave. He had been outside "hunting" for awhile and was bundled from head to toe in all his new camo attire, with his new bow! Matthew was fully prepared to cheer on his PSU Lions however they were not successful in a win and Matthew had to hear it from all about the loss. It's okay he is ready to cheer them on again next season.
This past Saturday evening, we had a little gathering with the Ginder's and Matt and Ani. The Ginder children and my children do a small Christmas exchange each year. They came for dinner and some "hang out" time with us. The previous day the kids wanted me to take them to Toys R Us to spend all their gift cards. Matthew is a lot like his mother and will hoard gift cards till he has a ton. He had enough money to buy Guitar Hero for Wii, the entire band. So Friday night and Saturday evening were mainly spent enjoying the new "toys." Here are a few pics of the guys entertaining us with their skills. I did of course have to go buy "real" drum sticks the next day, as Matt B was a little to excited on the drums and busted them both! Now we have real drum sticks for the next set of players to join the band. It was a great weekend full of fun!

Matt B on the guitar
And singing since he gave up on drums. Matt on guitar and Steve on drums
And my Matt giving us his best singing voice. Needless to say that voice wasn't there the next morning. Maybe shouldn't have sang so hard while being sick!
